Best Places to Print Your Images

Best Places to Print Your Photos
I am looking to print out some family photos and also make baby books for the boys - do you have a favorite company to order through?
— Annie

This is a question I receive often, so I thought I would round up a few of my favorite resources. There are hundreds of options these days and I know it can be overwhelming to make decisions on where to go and what to do. Most of our photos live on our phones and hard drives and never ever become a printed photograph. Even in this digital age, a printed photo still has so much value and can evoke memories in such a tangible way. I’ve pulled together seven of my tried and true resources for printing photos and I hope this list inspires you to carve out some extra time in the coming weeks to print some of your memories.

1. Your Gallery

If you are a client of mine, you can order prints directly from your gallery. It’s easy and quick. Just click on the shopping cart icon for options to order prints, albums, and canvases. Everything is printed through a professional lab and the quality is excellent. A client of mine recently printed a canvas through her gallery and surprised her family on Christmas morning. Such a great gift!

2. Nations Photo Lab

Nations Photo Lab is another one of my favorite resource for prints. I especially love the the foamcore backing option so that you can stand up your images on a ledge - no frame necessary. You do not need to be a photographer to print with them and they run great sales as well.

I also love the Gallery Blocks at Nations Photo Lab. I printed this 20x30 gallery block (similar to a canvas, but the image is mounted to wood) probably 4 years ago and I still love it.

3. Persnickety Prints

Persnickety Prints is my absolute favorite place to print memory pages for our family scrapbooks. They offer free scrapbook templates on their website to help you create memory pages in a variety of sizes - no Photoshop required. Just upload your images and drop and drag them into place. I mix and match iPhone photos and DSLR photos on all my pages. The print quality is amazing and they are extremely fast. Free shipping with all $39+ orders. They also have an app and you can order photos directly from the app, but I don’t believe you can make the memory pages from the app.

My favorite 12 x 12 albums come from here and page protectors are here. In addition to memory pages, Persnickety Prints also offer prints (in every size you can think of), calendars, albums, cards, etc.

4. Artifact Uprising

I’ve ordered several products from Artifact Uprising and they are all beautiful. My favorite product is probably their Softcover Photo Books. I’ve documented many of our family trips in the 8x8 softcover book and I love the clean and easy to use templates they offer.

I also love the Everyday Print Set from Artifact Uprising. I have stacks of 5 x 5 matte prints all over my house.

5. Costco Photo Center

Costco Photo Center is a quick and extremely affordable option for printing photos. My local Costco closed their on-site photo center a few years ago, but I have ordered online from them when I need something quick. The trick about ordering from Costco is to uncheck the auto-correct button on the final ordering page. It’s typically a default setting, so this step is often missed. If you are trying to print images that have already been edited by you or by your photographer, you don’t want Costco to automatically auto correct them. In my experience, if you leave the auto-correct option on, your photos will print darker than you wish.

My sister has been using this app to document her family memory books for years and loves it. She creates all her pages right on her phone and can even order the finished pages right from the app. The Project Life App is free and you can find more information and details here. Also, I recently introduced my 8 year to this app and she has already made several pages completely on her own. If she can make them, so can you! The key is that you need to be able to access all your images from your phone.

7. Smallwoods

I have seen so many ads for this company and have been curious about them. I haven’t yet ordered anything, but a client of mine used Smallwoods to print these fun images from her session last Spring. Love!

Ok, it’s time to get your photos OFF your computer and up on your walls. Still have questions? Send me an email!
